CURRICULUM: Whatcom – Physical Therapy Assistant HIT Infusion

PTA 101 Introduction to Physical Therapy Summary This course is an introduction to the practice of physical therapy with emphasis on the PTA as a member of the health care team. It will examine the therapist-patient relationship. The course includes an introduction to documentation standards, SOAP note writing and other documentation formats related to physical therapy. Also included is an introduction to evidence based practice and legal and ethical issues in physical therapy including HIPPA legislation.

CURRICULUM: Pierce College – Healthcare Database Management Systems

Course Summary Concepts and theory of relational database management systems (RDBMS) including the analysis and design of relational database systems. This is a project-based class. Entity Relationship modeling and advanced Microsoft Access techniques, in preparation for the Microsoft Office Specialist exam, will be covered. Course discussion and hands-on case studies in the healthcare industry with comparison to other industries, as applicable, provides practical knowledge and experience.
